How to Find Your Reference Number for Online Bill Check

Look at the top header of any previous physical electricity bill. You will find a 14-digit reference number printed under your sub-division name. Here is how it is structured:

  • First 2 Digits: Sub-division code
  • Next 5 Digits: Batch / Block code
  • Last 7 Digits: Individual Consumer Serial

A single capital letter (U for Urban or R for Rural) appears adjacent to the digits. Selecting the correct connection letter ensures accurate retrieval on the official PITC server.

Simple Ways to Use Less Power & Lower Your Bill

Targeted household habits directly reduce the tariff slab you fall under, saving significant surcharges:

  • Switch to LED lights: Consumes up to 75% less wattage than incandescent bulbs with longer lifespans.
  • Thermostat management: Set your inverter air conditioner to 26°C. Every degree below 26°C increases energy consumption by roughly 6%.
  • Routine filter maintenance: Clogged fan blades and AC filters cause motors to pull higher continuous amperes.
  • Eliminate phantom loads: Unplug idle phone chargers, TV boxes, and microwave ovens that draw vampire current.
  • Consolidated laundry & ironing: Running heating elements and washers in single larger batches saves motor start-up peaks.
  • Verify meter readings: Photograph your digital meter on the billing cycle date to catch meter reading discrepancies early.
  • Avoid peak hours: Limit heavy appliance usage (irons, water pumps, washing machines) during DISCO declared peak evening hours.

Common Terminology on Pakistan Electricity Bills

Units (Kilowatt Hours)

One billing unit equals 1 kWh. It is equivalent to operating 1,000 watts of electrical load continuously for one hour.

Slab Rates

NEPRA defines progressive tiered pricing. Consuming within protected brackets (under 200 units consistently for 6 months) maintains lower base tariffs compared to unprotected tiers.

Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA)

Variable cost component reflecting the monthly difference in actual fuel expenditure by generation companies (GENCOs/IPPs) versus forecast base rates.

Late Payment Surcharge (LPS)

A mandatory financial fee added when payment is not cleared by the due date printed on the slip.

Arrears

Past unpaid balances or adjustments carried over from previous billing cycles.

Frequently Asked Questions (Online Bill Check)

Is this the official power company website?

No. We are an independent informational and navigation tool. We provide direct, validated links to the official PITC (Power Information Technology Company) and K-Electric web portals where official duplicate bills are generated.

Which electricity companies can I check?

Our online bill check supports MEPCO (Multan), LESCO (Lahore), FESCO (Faisalabad), GEPCO (Gujranwala), IESCO (Islamabad/Rawalpindi), PESCO (Peshawar), HESCO (Hyderabad), SEPCO (Sukkur), QESCO (Quetta), TESCO (Tribal areas), and K-Electric (Karachi).

Why does my reference number fail or return an error?

Make sure you entered all 14 digits without spaces or dashes. Confirm that you chose the right company and connection type (Urban vs. Rural). During peak billing dates, official PITC servers can experience temporary downtime.

Can I pay my bill on this website?

No. This site never accepts payments, bank logins, or card information. Please use official channels such as Easypaisa, JazzCash, your bank mobile application, or any 1Link branch. This is just a bill check site: we do not accept any transactions or payments of any type, we only show electricity bills.

What is a 10-digit customer ID?

Certain distribution companies like K-Electric use a 10-digit account number instead of a 14-digit PITC reference. The search field accepts both formats.

Why did my bill increase significantly this month?

Common factors include exceeding protected unit thresholds, government debt service surcharges, periodic FPA adjustments, quarterly tariff determinations, and seasonal weather changes.

Is my consumer data secure?

Yes. The lookup runs strictly on your device. We do not store, log, or sell consumer numbers or billing history. We keep no record at any time.
